Made in the USA
Bombardier supplies passenger rail vehicles, propulsion and control equipment, rail control and signalling systems, and complete transportation systems to major transit and airport authorities across the United States. The vast majority of this equipment is built at our three manufacturing facilities in Plattsburgh, Pittsburgh, and West Mifflin
Plattsburgh (New York)
Plattsburgh is Bombardier’s final assembly and test center for rail cars being delivered in the U.S. marketplace. Opened in 1995 to support projects for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) of New York, Plattsburgh now delivers rail cars to customers across the nation.
We have recently broadened the skill set and capabilities at Plattsburgh through the transfer of stainless steel welding technology and equipment, thus expanding the facility’s mandate to include building car shells. Other capabilities recently added at the site are assembly of trucks and door systems. Since 1995, Bombardier’s capital investment in the Plattsburgh site has totaled more than $25 million.
Our Plattsburgh plant is certified ISO 9001:2008 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001:2004 (Environmental Management System) and OHSAS 18001 (Health & Safety Management System).
Our Pittsburgh plant is the global production facility of our fully Automated People Mover (APM), monorail and rubber-tired rapid transit technologies.
The products we build at this plant include the INNOVIA APM 100, INNOVIA APM 200, the INNOVIA APM 256, and the INNOVIA Monorail. The plant is also responsible for the development and implementation of our CITYFLO 550 fixed block automatic train control (ATC) solution and our CITYFLO 650 communications-based ATC, as well as our SEKURFLO transit security family of products.
INNOVIA APM installations and urban applications can be found in airports and cities across the United States, including Atlanta, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Seattle-Tacoma, Tampa, San Francisco, and soon Phoenix.
As a global production facility, our Pittsburgh plant has built INNOVIA vehicles for numerous international projects, including Frankfurt, Rome, Madrid, Stansted, Gatwick, and Heathrow airports in Europe; and Beijing, Guangzhou, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore in Asia.
This site is certified ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, OHSAS 18001:2007 and is appraised at CMMI Level 3 (Capability Maturity Model Integrated).
West Mifflin (Pennsylvania)
Propulsion and Control equipment for heavy rail/metro lines and APM systems are produced at our West Mifflin facility. This equipment is currently in use in many American cities, including Baltimore, Boston, Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington.
In addition to the projects in the United States, the West Mifflin facility also provides product for international projects, including Toronto and Vancouver in Canada; Sao Paulo in Brazil; and Hong Kong, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, and Beijing in Asia.
This site is certified ISO 9001:2004, ISO 14001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:1999.
Kanona (New York)
The Kanona site has served a wide range of customers in the United States, including the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (light rail vehicles), MTA/Metro-North Railroad and the Maryland Mass Transit Administration (commuter coaches), and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (truck overhaul).
