A strong American supply chain

Suppliers play a key role in our products and services, and have a major impact on the value chain, environmental improvements and social responsibility.

We have a long history of investment in the United States, which has contributed not only to our success, but also to the network of suppliers across the United States.

The Bombardier Procurement System ensures that suppliers fulfill their role as part of a complete team. We place ambitious demands on performance, including a catalogue of criteria relating to quality guarantees, internal learning processes, pricing systems and the ability to deliver the goods. Using these criteria, we strive to learn more about our suppliers’ environment and safety management systems.

Our highest assessment goes to suppliers who work with an externally audited environmental management system and where a series of ecological criteria have been considered at the product development stage. In terms of workplace safety, we prefer suppliers who use a management system based on OHSAS 18001 or a comparable standard.

We expect suppliers to comply with the principles in our Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and our HSE Policy. In our standard contracts, we have established a language related to supplier environmental compliance, and are expanding our coverage of health and safety requirements.

Bombardier supports Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) in the United States, and as such, has established with the Federal Transit Administration an Annual Goal for DBE participation of 8.5%.
